Trump's Ousting of Alexander Vindman Proves He's Still the Petty Bag of Vengeful Rage He Was Raised to Be

By Charles Pierce, Esquire

09 February 20

Vindman's sense of American justice has been traduced by a pack of cheap thieves.

nce again, we are reminded that Susan Collins called her putt a little too soon. El Caudillo Del Mar-a-Lago is still the petty little bag of vengeful rage that he was raised to be.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman told the truth. The president* lied about him as recently as Friday morning when he said during his walk to the chopper that there would be no retaliation within the White House on the grounds of insufficient accessory after the fact. By the afternoon, Vindman was being escorted out of the joint.

Vindman is still in the Army at full rank and pay. He is not fired from that job, just reassigned. Maybe he’s relieved at this point to be out of Camp Runamuck. I certainly would be. But his immigrant’s sense of American justice has been traduced by a pack of cheap thieves, and that is something that cheats us all of something of value.

I remember in the late 1960s, when Clark Clifford turned LBJ around on the Vietnam War—sadly, much too late—simply by telling that president the truth, over and over again, especially the truth about who in his government had been lying to him. Vindman was right when he told the congressional committee that truth matters. Sometimes it takes a while, though.

P.S.—They fired his twin brother, too. Jesus, these really are the mole people.
